Most people walk past a gum tree without giving its bark a second thought.
I can’t walk past one without stopping.
Some trees look like they’ve been painted by hand. Others resemble weathered linen, flowing water or cracked porcelain. Every species tells a different story through colour, texture and pattern. The closer you look, the more you realise that nature has been creating abstract art long before we ever hung paintings on our walls.
This perspective is what inspired Lyptus Art.
Finding abstract art without a paintbrush
People often ask if my photographs have been digitally manipulated or painted.
They haven’t.
Every print begins with a real moment somewhere in Australia. Sometimes it’s the peeling bark of a eucalyptus tree beside a quiet country road. Other times it’s lichen growing across an old rock, the weathered timber of a forgotten fence or the intricate textures of moss.
Nothing is created with artificial intelligence.
The camera becomes a way of preserving details that most of us never notice.

Why Australian nature makes timeless wall art
Interior trends come and go, but natural textures have a way of feeling at home almost anywhere.
The soft colours of gum bark, warm rusts of lichen, muted greens of moss and creamy tones of weathered timber work beautifully in contemporary Australian homes because they already exist in our landscape.
Whether your home leans coastal, modern farmhouse, Japandi or minimalist, botanical photography and abstract nature prints bring warmth without overwhelming a room.
They’re calming because they come from somewhere real.
Every print begins with noticing
Many of my favourite photographs weren’t planned.
Some were discovered while pulling over on a country drive.
Others appeared during family walks, waiting for a child to finish exploring, or simply taking the long way back to the car.
One print was found while settling my baby outside a small country wine bar.
Another appeared after rain transformed ordinary eucalyptus bark into something that looked like flowing silk.
Those unexpected moments have become some of Lyptus Art’s most loved Australian wall prints.
Bringing the outdoors inside
One of the things I love most about nature photography is that it allows us to bring a little of the Australian landscape indoors.
A framed photographic print can soften a living room, add warmth to a hallway or become a quiet focal point in a bedroom.
Unlike bold statement artwork, nature photography tends to reveal itself slowly.
People often stop, look closer and ask,
“Is that really a tree?”
That’s my favourite question.
The Art of Noticing
Lyptus Art was built on a simple belief.
Beauty doesn’t always need to be created.
Sometimes it only needs to be noticed.
Every collection is an invitation to slow down, look a little closer and discover the remarkable textures hidden within ordinary Australian landscapes.
If one of my prints encourages someone to notice something beautiful on their next walk, then it has already done more than decorate a wall.
It has changed the way they see the world.
